Where Two Or Three Are Gathered - 2017-2021
Location: Covenant United Church Of Christ, 1130 E 154th St, South Holland, IL
Project Description:
This magnificent stained glass mosaic installation spans across 1,000 square feet, encompassing fifty windows that gracefully encircle the second-floor balcony of Covenant United Church of Christ in South Holland, IL. This monumental endeavor served as the culminating project under the visionary leadership of Rev. Dr. Ozzie E. Smith, Jr., the church's founding pastor, who brought this vibrant congregation to life in the mid-1990s.
Within this abstract composition, a rich tapestry of symbols and imagery unfolds. Prominently featured are the UCC symbol, a representation of the Adinkra symbol "Sankofa," signifying the importance of revisiting and embracing one's history, and the Adinkra symbol "Gye Nyame," a powerful emblem symbolizing the omnipotence of God. Additionally, the installation showcases figures captured in the posture of praise, celebrating the spiritual vitality and unity of the Covenant United Church of Christ community.
